- 4.5 oz palm oil
- 4.5 oz coconut oil
- 4.5 oz olive oil
- 2.2 oz papaya puree
- 2.2 oz cucumber puree
- 1.8 oz lye (sodium hydroxide)
- 4.4 oz distilled water
Instructions:
- In a heat-safe container, combine the palm oil, coconut oil, and olive oil. Heat the mixture until it is fully melted.
- In a separate container, mix together the lye and distilled water until the lye is fully dissolved.
- Slowly pour the lye solution into the oil mixture, stirring constantly with a stick blender.
- Continue blending the mixture until it reaches “trace,” which is when the oils and lye solution have emulsified and the mixture thickens.
- Add the papaya and cucumber purees to the mixture, and stir well.
- Pour the mixture into molds, and let it sit for 24-48 hours, or until it is fully hardened.
- Remove the soap from the molds, and let it cure for 4-6 weeks before using.
Note:
- Soap making is a chemical process and involves handling lye, which can be dangerous. Wear gloves, goggles, and long sleeves to protect your skin.
- The recipe is for basic soap, you may add other ingredients like Essential oils for fragrance, or other oils for different properties.
